Excursion schedule
Gathering early in the morning and departure. Making the necessary stops, we reach Lefkada and from Nydri we board the ship for Kefalonia. Disembarkation in the northeastern part of the island, in the picturesque Fiskardo, where we will have free time for coffee and food. Then we will meet the west side of the island. We will admire the peninsula of Assos with the traditional houses, an image that seduces, while a little further we will meet the famous beach of Myrtos. Arrival at the hotel for settling in and relaxing. First acquaintance with the city of Argostoli and we will watch the procession of the Epitaph. Return to the hotel.
Breakfast and introduction to the capital of the island. The archaeological museum, the Korgialenios library, the square of the Bell and the Sinkholes, a rare geological phenomenon, await us. We continue our day's program by taking the boat to the picturesque Lixouri, the 2nd largest city of the island with the statue of Laskaratos welcoming us in the city's large square. Our first stop is the Monastery of the Most Holy Theotokos Coronatus, which is also called "Dakryrousa", because in the earthquakes of 1867, while the church was not demolished, the icon was found on the floor with tears in its eyes.Continuing we reach the historical monastery of Kipouraia, (as long as it is open), which is built in one of the most imposing landscapes of Kefalonia, on a high rock about 90m. from the sea. We will end up at the famous Xi beach for swimming and lunch on our own. Return to the hotel. In the evening free time in the central square of Argostoli. Overnight.
Today we will get to know almost the entire island. Taking a beautiful route through Ainos, the mountain with its rich black pine, we reach the monastery of Agios Gerasimos, patron of the island, whose relic is kept in the monastery in a silver urn. Next we will visit Drongaratis cave, a living cave, as its creation continues. The hall decorated with stalactites and stalagmites has wonderful acoustics and is configured with a special platform for concerts. However, the island's attractions continue. Our next stop is the cavernous cave of Melissani, one of the most impressive in Greece.Continuing our day, we reach the pebbly beach of Agia Paraskevi, for a swim and lunch on our own. We return to our hotel. In the evening a bus ride to get to know the very beautiful villages of the south central side of the island. Mazarata, and Kurkumelata. Overnight
Breakfast. Optional excursion to Ithaca. From Sami and taking the bus with us, we will get to know the capital of Ithaca, the beautiful picturesque Vathi. We return to our hotel. Relaxation. In the afternoon we will enjoy the wonderful view of the castle of Agios Georgios from the 12th century, which was the capital of Kefalonia until 1757. Overnight stay.
Breakfast and we depart for the port of Sami where we will board the ship bound for Astakos Etoloakarnania. Disembarkation and departure for Amphilochia, the bride of Amvrakikos. where we will have free time to eat. Then we will visit the picturesque town of Ioannina where we will have time for a coffee and a walk. Back to our city.
